No mistake is worth the shame

I’m inspired by another LinkedIn story to write this article.

When was the last time you made a mistake and have you made amends with yourself? That’s right, I said “with yourself.” I’m reminded of a statement someone made when I was in my mid-twenties. It goes something like this, “forgiveness is a gift you give yourself”. It took some time for me to grasp an understanding of that.

“Whether you choose to or choose not to, you’ve made a choice.” Yeah… I’m full of quotes. What I’m trying to say is you don’t have to look for a mistake to be forgotten, instead you can admit the error, correct it, and move on.

The LinkedIn story explains how one chooses to view a mistake determines their reward: opportunity v.s. weakness

The only shame comes from the latter.

I almost wish I’d understood this sooner—I know now. There lies my opportunity.

Think on it!
